Things to do in Koh Samui, Thailand
Located on the east coast of Thailand are the beautiful islands of Koh Samui. They are the second largest island after Phuket and probably more stunning. This is the place for you if you have been on a lookout for a perfectly peaceful and tranquil holiday.
Its white sand beaches, clear blue waters and tropical foliage will leave you mesmerised, however Koh Samui is not just about laying on the beach and relaxing, there are several things that you can do here to make your trip to Thailand a memorable one.
Here are some things you should definitely do when you are in Koh Samui.
Go Snookah Diving
Thailand is the only place where you can do Snookah diving and there is no reason why you should miss it. Snookah diving is basically shallow diving with no heavy equipment, extra training or certification. That means you don’t have to train just to prepare yourself for the final dive.
This is the perfect way to test and prepare yourself for an actual scuba dive. There are many boats and cruises that provide snookah diving services. You don’t have to book one in advance but make sure you haggle the prices.
Go trekking with the elephants
Give a twist to boring trekking by taking elephants with you. You can take elephant rides to the lush jungles and gorgeous waterfalls. The elephants here are well trained and extremely friendly, so you can be sure that you are in good hands, you can even feed them food.
Chug drinks at the ice bar
While ice bars have come up all over the world, it’s hard to find one at a tropical place. And we guarantee you that the moment you go inside Bar Ice Samui, you will fall in love with it. Everything here is made out of ice including the walls, chairs, bar and even the glasses you drink in. There are also many ice sculptures here which would make a great backdrop for an ultimate selfie, once you are done, you can walk to the tropical garden outside to warm up.
Go dancing at a Lady Boy cabaret
Lady Boy cabarets are one of the biggest attractions in Thailand and you will find some of the fanciest ones in Koh Samui. Although these are not for everyone, there is no reason why you should miss out on such a unique show.
There are many shows around the Chaweng beach, they usually start with more family friendly shows but as the night progresses, they become more adult oriented.
Standup paddle boating
Stand up paddle boating is not new, but Koh Samui has put its own spin to it by introducing late night Standup paddle boating with LED lights. This is the perfect way to experience the blue waters of Thailand which take a completely different form during the night. These trips are completely guided and start right after the sun sets.
